Melnik and Rojen monastery

"Sand pyramids near Melnik" by Joro

Melnik and Rojen are know for their sand pyramids, wine and traditional architecture. I suggest taking the bus to Rojen, visiting the monastery and walking down to Melnik - the trail is quite easy and offers spectacular views of the pyramids.

Sofia → Sandanski → (local bus) → Melnik → (the same local bus) → Rojen
